Curriculum, Advising and Program Planning (CAPP)

Welcome to Banner Curriculum, Advising and Program Planning (CAPP), a comprehensive module that allows you to audit a student's progress toward completion of their degree. UHD is making CAPP available only to Faculty and Staff to allow university personnel time to familiarize themselves with the program and the processes involved with its use, and to allow Administrators time to resolve remaining issues.

IMPORTANT! (Please read): These issues, mainly impacting transfer students, are detailed below:

Articulation Issues - for those students whose articulation contains errors, or is missing core codes or course attributes, a transcript evaluation request must be filled out. The request form is found on the Admissions Office website: https://www.uhd.edu/admissions/transfer/Pages/admissions-evaluation.aspx. The drop-down options menu allows users to select different reasons for requesting an evaluation. Once corrected, CAPP will display the updated information.

Catalog Cleanup Completion - the Special Advisory Committee on Course Articulation (SACCA) completed the cleanup of UHD's transfer catalogs in September 2011, and articulations dated prior to October 1, 2011, may contain errors. For those students who require a new evaluation, use the same link (https://www.uhd.edu/admissions/transfer/Pages/admissions-evaluation.aspx) to access and fill out a request form.

Repeated Transfer Courses - a significant issue yet to be resolved in CAPP is the use of repeated transfer courses. When a student attends another institution and earns a passing grade in a course, and then repeats the course in the same institution, a different institution, or at UHD, CAPP will use all instances of the course, generally in the electives area, but you may also find a course reused in the Core, the pre-major, or the major areas. Administrators are working to correct the issue, and care should be exercised when sharing CAPP reports with students.

We encourage Faculty and Staff to use CAPP when advising students or checking graduation requirements, with the stipulations that the compliance reports generated are not official, and that the results may contain inaccuracies.

Also, it is important to note that due to programming and priority requirements, the layout of degree programs in CAPP will not duplicate paper degree plans. However, CAPP does evaluate and apply a student's courses against the degree requirements in a detailed and comprehensive manner, and College and Department representatives have tested and verified the results.

If issues arise regarding access, or a programming problem occurs, please contact Joe Barajas, CAPP Manager, at BarajasJoe@uhd.edu, or your College/Department assigned CAPP tester.
